Dear fellow supporter,
At the General Election Reform UK won over four million votes and had five MPs elected. The Party is now building on this success by establishing ‘pilot’ branches across the country.
This is a key milestone in the process of democratising the Party, putting members at the heart of everything we do. A new constitution has been created and approved at our recent annual conference in Birmingham. The rules and processes have now been agreed that enable members to form branches, elect officers and choose candidates to contest elections.
It’s an exciting moment and we must not lose any time in organising for key elections – for us in North Yorkshire these will be the unitary council elections in May 2027. But we must also be ready for any parliamentary by-election that may take place at short notice.
I have been invited by the Reform UK leadership team to be the Interim Chairman for the Reform UK, Richmond and Northallerton Pilot Branch, and to bring together local members in the process. The Pilot Branch will be only provisional but will allow us to get the ball rolling and prepare the ground for an official branch or association in due course.
As the interim Chairman, I’m therefore writing to invite you the first meeting of the pilot branch for our constituency:
Date: Monday 21st October
Time: 6.30pm
Location: Appleton Wiske, Village Hall
All members and supporters are invited – but only members will be invited to subsequent meetings, and will be allowed to vote.
If you’re not a member I urge you to sign up today at: https://www.reformparty.uk/join
If you’re able to RSVP to me to let me know if you can attend I’d be very grateful.
I hope you won’t mind if I call you over the next few days to see if you can join us.
Kind regards,
Matthew Cooke
Interim Chairman
